For starters, I simply love the notion of a cottage ... not a house, not a condo, not an apartment, not even a walk-up, but a cottage. Eager to see a photo, but for now I have an image in my head. Loving your adventures. Sends me in two directions - never shall I even cook myself dinner again, or I will up my game considerably by trying some of the recipes I've printed out, put in a pile in the kitchen and never looked at again!
Wow wow wow! Sounds amazing. You're an inspiration! And great fun to read–footnotes and all! Thanks for sharing a taste of your adventure! (Sorry for all the exclamation marks, but damn!)
Lisa, thanks so much for sharing! You're a very talented writer as well! I was a bit disappointed to see some milk in what appeared to be "plastic"jugs? Also, the entire description reminds me of the small(about 60 cows, as I remember) dairy farm in mid-state NY. They had a mix of jersey and guernseys, chickens(who ruled the roost), pigs and a couple of beef cattle. Organic before we knew it was organic! Every child should spend some time on a SMALL dairy farm. Thanks for a huge smile this morning!
I’m exhausted just reading this. Enjoy the farmers market!

Melissa, I think you need to watch Ratatouille, a family favorite of ours. The whole idea of that movie is that anyone can cook!
What a wonderful place you are in! You are such a lovely writer that it makes it all the more interesting to learn about your adventure!

Living vicariously
Charlotte, you need to figure out a way to get yourself here, either as a student or working. You would adore everything!
I do like CDCA, but may I humbly suggest The Affinageés (those who have been aged like fine cheese)?
oooh, that is good.

lol needs must, and all that. We go through more dairy than the cows can produce, so have to outsource some. Indeed, it is an idyllic lifestyle!
Sounds wonderful! I'm so excited to hear about your adventure. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!
Lisa. Marvelous writing. Can almost hear the birds and taste the bread.
